Book Review: Wild Man Island

Will Hobbs wrote Wild Man Island. The main character is Andy Galloway. The book is about this kid who tries to find out about the first Americans. He kayaks away from his group. A big storm happens when he is kayaking back. A big wave hits him and he washes up on shore with no boots on. He was about to die of hypothermia so he layed down on a mossy log. When he isn't cold anymore he tried to find food. He ate mussels. The first one he ate was ok. The second one was ok too. The third one he ate wasn't good, and he felt a tingiling feeling. He was paralyzed. Laying on his back on the beach paralyzed, he was having dreams about his dad. He woke up and a seagull was on his chest about to peck his eyes out. A big dog saved his life. He followed the dog into a cave. The cave had stone weapons and caveman drawings on the wall from the first Americans. Then a wild man came into the cave and tried to kill him. The wild man goes looking for his dog. Andy gets out of the cave. These people come to the island and try to shoot the dog with a sleeping dart. They hit the dog, but the wild man takes him. The wild man finds Andy. They talk. The wild man tells Andy his name. He helps Andy get home. Andy finally reunites with his mother.

One of the main themes in the book is always have a buddy with you when you are on a dangerous trip. An example of a theme is when Andy went on his own to Admiralty Island. It would have been easier if he had a buddy with him. He struggled to survive on Admiralty Island.

The people I would recommend is to all the 7th graders in the world. I would recommend it to the 7th graders who like survival books, kayaking, Island, and Alaska's nature, like bears, wolves, mussels, trees, a dog, and the beach.  I would recommend it to people that like books and read the whole thing. Read Wild Man Island because it is a really good book it will keep you reading till you're done with it.
